Overview.
The Nutrition App brings nutrition information to your iPhone or iPod touch. Available for clients with the Nutrition Addition® Nutrition Calculator, the app is downloaded in Apple’s App Store and installed on the user’s device. Then the user can browse the nutritional data for any of the foods installed in the client’s online Nutrition Calculator.
Features.
Introductory features include a drill-down approach to a full Nutrition Facts label as seen on all packaging as per the USDA. Users follow a path of selecting a Restaurant, Food Group, and Food Name before seeing the nutrition data. Additionally, users can search for a food by name, ultimately seeing the Nutrition Facts label as well.
Data Updates.
When you make updates to the Nutrition Calculator control panel, you have the option to publish your changes and alert users of the Nutrition App that a new set of data is available. The mobile device will check in with the server periodically and when new data is ready, it will ask the user to perform the update.
App Updates.
The Nutrition App will inevitably evolve with more features and more user-friendly appearances. When new features are available, an update will be issued to Apple’s App Store for all clients. End users will then update their app to obtain the new features.
Licensing.
The dining service licensing the online Nutrition Calculator will be responsible for the fee for the Nutrition App so that the app may be offered as a “Free App” in Apple’s App Store.
